Morning Sickness - Pregnancy Symptoms

Why this symptom is referred to as morning sickness I will never know. You can be hit with morning sickness at any time from morning, noon and night.

In some cases the nausea and sickness can last for weeks or even months throughout the pregnancy.

You may also get spells were the nausea feelings wear off then come back, this could be throughout the day, weeks, months or even for your entire pregnancy.

Certain types of food can also make you feel sick, such as the smell of grease or cooking oil.

Feeling sick throughout your pregnancy is really awful. In some cases, depending on the severity of the condition, you may find you are unable to work and do everyday day things.

Things like cooking, running your home or even taking care of your children can become a real struggle.

If you are vomiting a lot throughout the day and are unable to keep anything down, not even a glass of water then this could indicate that you are suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum. This is a severe form of pregnancy sickness.

You should contact your midwife and doctor as soon as possible. This type of pregnancy sickness can not only harm your health but the health of your babies to.

Morning Sickness - Helpful Remedies

Don't rush getting out of bed.

Have a pack of ginger biscuits at the side of the bed, eat one slowly before you get up. This should take the edge of your sickness for a little while.

Leave your bedroom window open slightly.

Get some fresh air circulating around the room.

Forget about eating your standard three meals a day.

Eat little and often, every couple of hours or so. Try and work out which foods suit you best and what foods make you run for loo.

Avoid food that contains a lot of spices and fat.

These types of food are one of the main culprits to trigger morning sickness bouts.

Make sure that you drink plenty of liquid.

Keep yourself well hydrated. Try to drink at least 10 to 12 glasses of whatever you can manage from water, barley water, fruit juice, herbal tea.

Find a drink you can tolerate, especially if you have severe sickness. I know this can be hard, as even the thought of drinking can be stomach wrenching.

But it is vital to keep yourself well hydrated.

Avoid smoking, alcohol and caffeine.

Try and leave these things alone, they will make your sickness feel ten times worse.
